MFD Linehaul

Interstate Linehaul

The Adelaide to Perth lane is all we do.

The core East-West run, on our own fleet, from our own depots at both ends. Adelaide to Perth and return, with onward links to Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and regional WA.

Melbourne to Perth by road is about 3,400 km, longer than Melbourne to Brisbane and Melbourne to Sydney combined. The Nullarbor crossing alone is over 1,000 km of largely unbroken highway from Ceduna to Norseman, with no parallel route and no shortcut. This is the hardest freight lane in the country, and it is the only one we run.

We own both ends. Trailers do not sit waiting for a stranger in Adelaide. We control the changeover at our own interstate depot at Wingfield, then run it across to our own Perth depot at Kewdale. One operator, end to end, with the timing around the Nullarbor leg managed by people who drive it.

For urgent and time-sensitive freight, road linehaul is more forgiving on timing than rail. We can move when we have to, door to door, without a rail terminal in the middle.

Tautliner trailer coupled for the East-West run.

Detail

Why the lane runs better with us

The changeover advantage

Almost all Melbourne and Sydney to Perth freight changes over in Adelaide. We are anchored at that hinge and own the depot, so dwell time is ours to control, not a third party's.

Own fleet, not brokered

Over 40 late-model prime movers and our own trailing equipment. Your freight stays with MFD the whole way across, never handed off over the Nullarbor.

Built for the distance

Road train rated with dolly converters, late-model trucks, and crews who run the Eyre Highway every week. The economics and the timing of this lane are what we do.

The corridor

Anchored at the hinge, owning both ends.

The route from Perth through the Nullarbor to Adelaide, with onward links east. MFD sits at both depot ends, not in the middle as a broker.
